What is the Elysia SureStay program?

Elysia understands that as guests return to travel for leisure and business, hotel safety and cleanliness is at the forefront of travellers’ minds. Launching on 1 July, Elysia SureStay program builds on already impeccably high standards of cleanliness to deliver a hospital grade standard of sanitation throughout guest rooms, common areas and food & beverage venues, allowing guests to relax with the peace of mind that their health and safety has been looked after.

Elysia SureStay program utilises the highest grade of infection control policies and procedures developed in line with Australian owned and made chemical manufacturer True Blue.

 

How has the guest experience at hotels changed?

The entire guest experience has been reconsidered, with COVID-safe regulations in place and visible to guests throughout the entire customer journey. All operational processes including those relating to cleaning procedures and the utilisation of common spaces throughout the hotels have been reviewed, to ensure the safety of guests and team members is assured.

 

What measures are being taken to ensure the ongoing safety and cleanliness of guest rooms?

The chemical selection post COVID-19 has been raised from ‘commercial grade’ to ‘hospital grade’ and includes having a range of suitable disinfectants, cleaners and cleaning tools for use as part of our rigorous daily operations to ensure high cleaning standards and protection against any COVID-19 virus outbreak.

Elysia SureStay program guarantees a deep clean of the top ten high touch areas in guest rooms, in addition to our already stringent cleaning policies. This includes but is not limited to:

  1. All handles, doorknobs, wardrobes, drawers and cabinetry
  2. Light and electrical switches
  3. Temperature control panels
  4. Remote controls – TV, Radio, Air Conditioning
  5. Telephones & Intercoms
  6. Bathroom – Vanity, toilet flushes and seats, bath & shower tap ware
  7. Irons and safe keypad/handle
  8. Bathroom amenities – Hair dryer, amenity trays, tissue boxes
  9. Kitchen – Cutlery, glassware, kettle, fridge and oven handle
  10. Hard surfaces – Tabletops, desks

Further, we are implementing a sanitisation fogging system, which involves spraying a long-lasting antimicrobial barrier on surfaces that actively destroys and prevents the spread of a wide range of viruses, moulds, mildew, fungus, algae and bacteria.

Elysia SureStay program also guarantees the double clean of showers, baths and toilets with both commercial and hospital grade disinfectant. Each individual room is also cleaned with a separate set of colour coded Microfibre cloths to reduce the risk of cross contamination.

Guests will also note that in order to remove the opportunity for COVID-19 to spread on shared objects, in-room stationary including notebooks and pens will now be available at reception on request.

 

How can I be sure of the safety and hygiene of my room?

Guests can rest assured that this deep clean has taken place with a hygiene seal to be placed on each room once the clean has been completed.

ATP testing will also be carried out periodically to ensure that levels of residual matter are at a lower than acceptable level.

 

What measures are being taken to ensure safety and hygiene within the resorts common areas, programming and gym equipment?

Elysia SureStay program ensures common areas as well as the back-of-house, are frequently and thoroughly cleaned and disinfected with our commercial and hospital grade products on an hourly basis during peak times, paying special attention to high touch-point areas, such as door handles, switches, counters etc.  Exercise equipment will be sterilised following each use.

Protective sheeting is fitted over all lift buttons to allow for effective cleaning of this high-touch point area, while hand sanitiser will be available to all at reception.

Social distancing regulations are in place throughout common areas and programming utilising social distancing indicators. Customers will also note that seating in the lobby has been removed to reduce the opportunity for COVID-19 to spread on shared objects.

 

What measures are being taken to ensure safety and hygiene within hotel facilities?

Guests can be assured that hotel facilities will continue to be safe and comfortable shared spaces. The following COVID-safe regulations have been implemented:

  • Social distancing regulations are in place and there will be limits to the number of guests using facilities at one time.
  • Facilities are cleaned and sanitised at an increased frequency to a hospital grade standard.
  • Sanitation wipes and hand sanitiser is available.

 

What measures are being taken to ensure ongoing safety and cleanliness of food & beverage venue and restaurant?

The restaurant at Elysia has always maintained high levels of cleanliness and will continue to do so, whilst ensuring that modifications are made to food preparation and service to allow for extra precautions to be taken.

In partnership with our F&B chemical partner, Ecolab, we will be ensuring that all front of house, high use surfaces will be cleaned at an increased frequency rate.

Further, Elysia SureStay program guarantees a deep clean of the top ten high touch areas in our F&B areas in addition to our already stringent cleaning policies. This includes but is not limited to:

  1. Handrails on stairs and escalators;
  2. Shared door handles and door panels (including bathroom doors);
  3. Fridge handles;
  4. Chairs and tables;
  5. Straw dispensers;
  6. Menu cards or table menu stands;
  7. Front counter surfaces.

 

Are these measures also being considered in back-of-house areas of the restaurant?

 Yes, we will be increasing our cleaning and sanitisation procedures in all back of house areas to a minimum of every two hours, in combination with an increase in controls with our stock management, ensuring any item on the premises has been sprayed with sanitiser prior to being placed into cold or stock storage.

As a standard, the highest levels of hand hygiene will continue to be used across all our food and beverage preparations and service.

 

How has the guest experience within the restaurant been reconsidered?

The guest experience within the restaurant has been reconsidered with COVID-safe regulations in place. Changes to the guest experience includes:

  • The introduction of digital menus which are accessed via QR code
  • One-off consumables such as salt, pepper, sugar, napkins etc. available upon request only
  • Social distancing regulations in place
  • All foods at ordering points are wrapped and pre-packaged
  • Buffet programs have been overhauled to consider individually wrapped options and to be strictly supervised by team members
  • Hand sanitiser available at all venues
  • Communal newspapers, books, toys etc. have been removed
  • In-room delivery service is available

Check in and Check out

Check in: We invite you to arrive anytime from 12 noon onwards. You will have lunch included on your check in day at 1pm, followed by an orientation tour of the property at 2pm.

Check Out: Although check out from your suite is by 11am, you are welcome to stay and continue to enjoy the facilities and activities. Lunch is not included on your departure day however you may request lunch in the restaurant at an additional $15 (subject to availability) or a takeaway lunch pack for $10.

Please ensure when booking flights you allow adequate time to meet the shuttle prior to departure.

 

For arrivals on Sunday, shuttle bus transfers are available from the following locations:

  • Newcastle Airport: departure time varies by date (please confirm with reservations before booking flights).
  • Sydney Domestic Airport: departing at 9.30am.
  • Chatswood Train Station: departing at 10.15am.

For departure on Friday or Sunday, shuttle bus transfers are available at the following times:

  • Newcastle Airport: departing Elysia Wellness Retreat at 11.30am. Schedule domestic flights from 2.00pm
  • Sydney Domestic Airport: departing Elysia Wellness Retreat at 11.30am. Schedule domestic flights from 5.30pm & international flights from 6.30pm
  • Chatswood Train Station: departing Elysia Wellness Retreat at 11.30am. Approximate arrival at Chatswood 3.30pm

 

Transfer Rates

Transfers are complimentary for guests staying on the 7 Night Health Enhancement Program.

Guests staying on the 5 Night Optimal Wellness Program can utilise the shuttle transfers for $75 per person one way to/from Sydney and Chatswood or $50 per person one way to/from Newcastle.

(If your flights do not co-ordinate with our shuttle times or you are participating in our 2 or 3 night programs we can arrange a private transfer at a cost of $175 to/from Newcastle or $350 to/from Sydney or Chatswood).

Meals we serve

Our meal plan is vegetarian based, organic where possible, and does include fish and chicken on occasions. We include breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea and dinner.

 

At Elysia, you will be eating sensibly portioned, nutritious wholefoods at well-spaced mealtimes. Mindful eating is encouraged to help you appreciate what you have, to slow down and to be more “in the moment”. Time at the retreat gives your body a rest from red meat, alcohol, caffeine, sugar and saturated fat.

Your Typical Day

Elysia will provide a detailed itinerary on a day-to-day basis, which is placed in your suite during a turndown service while you have dinner. This will include which activities are running for the following day as well as their location. You can participate in as much or as little as you would like, and there is generally a new activity every hour, with a mixture of high and low intensity options.

Spa and wellness treatments

All treatments and booking times will be confirmed the evening prior to your treatment.

Packing list

Whether you are here during the day or at night, you will always feel comfortable in casual wear at Elysia.

Clothing should be practical, functional and comfortable. We also offer a quality range of leisure and active wear in our on-site boutique.

Here is an example packing list that may be helpful in preparing for your stay:

  • Active wear so you can get involved in activities throughout the day.
  • Joggers. Hiking shoes are optional.
  • Thongs/open toed footwear for use in the day spa.
  • For the cooler months we recommend warm jackets and gloves so you can take part in our beautiful sunrise tai chi comfortably.
  • For the warmer months sunscreen and hats are recommended for our outdoor activities.
  • Swimwear so you can take advantage of our pool, spa and steam room facilities.
  • We provide our hair and skin care range of shampoo, conditioner, hand and body wash, body lotion and a soap bar for you.
  • Torch for returning to your suite after night-time activities.

We also have laundry facilities if you need throughout your visit ($4 per load – coin operated).

Restricted items

Familiarise yourself with our restricted items. Please refrain from bringing these onto the property:

  • Mobile Phones/devices (can be used in your private suite)
  • Tobacco
  • Drugs
  • Food
  • Chocolate or Sweets
  • Coffee or Tea
  • Alcohol

Using technology

During your visit we like you to be able to ‘disconnect’ and ‘switch off’ giving you space to concentrate on yourself. Mobile phones are allowed within your suite and we provide complimentary Wi-Fi (we understand you may need to touch base with friends and family at home). However, they are not to be used in the common areas. This gives you and our other guests a well-deserved technology break.

How to prepare for a detox retreat

We strongly recommend you reduce or cease the consumption of sugar, alcohol, tobacco and caffeine in the week prior to your arrival. It is our experience that your stay with us will be much more rewarding if you are able to remove these substances from your diet prior to arrival. Not ready to experience a full detox? Our different programs

At Elysia we offer two check-in days being Friday for our 2 Night Weekend Program, and Sunday for our 7, 5- and 3-Night Programs.

 

All of the above programs include private accommodation, meals, group activities, use of the facilities and a certain number of spa treatments depending on your length of stay. View Rates and Packages

 

In addition to the above, guests who arrive on Sunday will have a personalised welcome consultation, access to a wide range of wellness treatments with some of Australia’s most skilled practitioners and a daily educational seminar.

Arriving on a certain day

Being a health retreat, we are a little bit different to a standard hotel in that we have structured programs for you that commence on a certain day of the week. Your first day on the program provides an orientation to our retreat, which will really set out how you can make the most of your experience.

 

We feel by arriving on these set days with all the other guests really sets off the true Elysia experience. We have found our guests definitely benefit from a structured welcome process, including welcome consultations on arrival (Sundays), and the introductory information session, which targets how to get the most out of the program. Our guests go home feeling much more well-rested, relaxed and rejuvenated.

Accommodation

Elysia offers one, two- or three- bedroom private suites, depending on how many guests you are travelling with. Each includes a spacious lounge area and balcony overlooking the Hunter Valley. Within each bedroom you can choose from a King bed or two Single beds. All rooms have a private ensuite including bath.
